The storyline of Elden Ring is both a complex and intriguing one. The Lands Between is where the adventure takes place, and to encompass the whole game itself, the Lands are both scary and beautiful. In the reality of the game, the lands are beset with great evil as the main protagonist must seek means and ways to complete his quest.

The Lands Between in today's world was also known as ancient Mesopotamia, which is why the game is also somewhat based on Earth's past. Unlike our current reality, however, The Lands Between of Elden Ring theoretically takes place today in an alternate timeline where monsters, magic, and mayhem exist in a way they never could today.

Featured as the central location of the first Amnesia game, The Dark Descent, Castle Brennenburg serves as the dreadful labyrinthine prison you the player must escape from. Said to have been built in the late 12th Century, the castle fell into the influence of evil when its lord and master Wilhelm Brennenburg indulged in the practice of the Black Arts performing guile experiments on hapless peasants, opening a portal, and releasing supernatural evil into the castle.

Sadly, this legacy and curse were passed onto the generations of the Brennenburg Family, with Alexander Brennenburg said to be the latest to practice the foul arts. The castle is not only filled with terrifying and horrific beings but also creepy mysteries that the player must solve in order to get free.

Location: The Peninsula - The Forest

This is one expanse where survival is the name of the game, and the horror is in staying alive or being killed and eaten by tribal cannibals. Forest -The Peninsula, is one horrific hack & slash of a game. You just happen to survive a crash on a peninsula inhabited by barbaric and cannibalistic tribes, and the entire forest is your battleground for survival.

You will find means and ways to stay alive, study your enemies, learn their weaknesses, and use them against them or be turned into human stew for their meals. The decisions you, as the player, will have to make can get uncomfortably horrific, all in the name of survival. It's a different experience yet as terrifying as the other games.
