Criminal Minds is a really enjoyable hidden object game that is based on the television series ‘Criminal Minds’. The game consists of your regular run-of-the-mill hidden object scenarios which are combined with interested puzzle sequences. The gameplay synergizes extremely well with the overall dark theme of the game and in the end it’s a really fun experience.
From the start you’ll notice that the game takes a lot of queues from the TV series. Each case you select will start out with your entire squad on an airplane heading for the crime scene. This is where all the debriefing happens and you’re given all the fine details about the case and also potential suspects. The plane will land once you’ve talked to every member of your squad and you can go on your way to solving the case.
It’s worth keeping in mind that there’s no set in stone plot of the game. Instead, you choose from multiple different cases to solve each with their own unique elements. Different cases means different places to go which means that you’ll get to see a lot of unique places as you progress through.
The gameplay, as mentioned before, is the standard hidden object gameplay which has been implemented in a near perfect manner into the crime based theme of the game. Expect really good hidden object scenes and to solve complex puzzles along your way such as fingerprint analysis. Of course there are also the regular scenarios where you have to perform specified tasks to move on to the next scenario.
Despite the solid execution of its gameplay, Criminal Minds feels rather lackluster when it comes to graphics and presentation. The cut-scenes don’t seem like any major effort went into them and the environments often feel dull. These are minor issues however but the one major issue is that there’s no voice acting behind the characters. You’ll have to manually read through all the text dialogue.
When you download Criminal Minds for the first time you’ll be able to play it for a total of 60 minutes on a trial period. After this trial period expires, you can purchase the game if you want to which will lift all time restrictions.
